Getting Ready for September 2023

Dear Parents and Carers,

We are delighted that you and your child will be joining us here at Shinfield Infant School in September 2023.  On behalf of the Staff, Local Advisers, children and parents it gives us great pleasure to welcome you and your family to our school.  To those of you who are returning, with a younger sibling, welcome back!

In the next few weeks, we will be visiting all pre-school and nursery settings to find out more information about your child and where they are in their stages of social and emotional development and learning. This information will help us to form three well mixed classes.

We will be holding a September Starters 2023 meeting on the 29th June, at either 9:15am or 7pm in our school hall. In the meeting you will receive details about which class your child will be in, be able to meet your child’s new teacher and be given your child’s start date. You will receive an information gathering booklet for you and your child to complete entitled ‘All About Me’. There will be opportunities for you to ask us questions too. As these meetings are very information heavy, we recommend that children do not attend where possible. If you are unable to attend, please let us know and we can arrange to send the information to you.

Please now book on to our September Starters 2023 meetings scheduled for the 29th June at 9:15am and 7pm, by clicking on the link below:

At the September Starters 2023 meeting, you will also receive the timings of your child’s Stay and Play sessions on either the 4th or 6th July.  Our Stay and Play Sessions are an opportunity for us to get to know you and your child.  We will talk to you about your child’s preferences; the things they particularly enjoy, find difficult etc.  We will do our very best to work with you to support your child through their transition to their first exciting experience of school life.

This year, as part of our transition, we will be having Parent and Teacher meetings on Tuesday 4th September and Wednesday 5th September. These will be 10 minute slots where you and your child can come in to school and see the classroom again and spend some time talking through any concerns or worries you have prior to starting. Timeslots for these will be given to you in the next few weeks as we begin to send all paperwork.

Until then, the link below has some useful resources to support you at home with transition:
