Introduction from Mrs Amanda Turner, Headteacher
Welcome to Shinfield Infant and Nursery School. Our school was founded in 1707 and has been a well-established and popular school for over 300 years. We are strongly linked with Shinfield St. Mary’s C.E. Junior School. The two schools collaborate to provide high quality teaching and learning from 3 to 11 years for our pupils. We have many active links with the local community that we serve, and access to a wide range of resources and experiences in the local area and beyond.
As a core part of the community, we provide a rich, safe and healthy learning environment. We develop active learning through a fun, inspiring and challenging curriculum and extra-curricular activities. We promote equal opportunities, valuing the skills and contributions of all individuals in our school. We encourage our pupils to become caring, responsible citizens, respecting all others through self-discipline and kindness.
Our aim ‘Everyone shining in their own field’ comes from the water meadows around Shinfield that give it the ‘shining field’ name. It underpins our whole school approach to ensuring that each child is enabled to shine through their own talents and skills. In all this we work closely in partnership with parents and carers. We are proud that in the latest Ofsted inspection (February 2019), we are graded as a ‘Good’ school and that ‘all parents who responded to the online questionnaire would recommend this school to other parents’.
Visitors are very welcome to come and see us. We would be delighted to have the opportunity to meet you and show you our vibrant and friendly school. If you are a parent or carer looking for a school or Nursery place for your child, we hope that you will come and visit us to see for yourself all that we can offer to you and your child at Shinfield Infant and Nursery School.
