New Joiners

Welcome to Shinfield Infant and Nursery School, below you will find some helpful information to review and forms to complete prior to your start with us.

Useful Information

School Meals

School meals are free for all Infant children. Our school meals are cooked onsite in our school kitchen. The meal choice is extensive and includes a main meal, vegetarian meal, pasta, jacket potato and a school packed lunch option every day. Lunches are ordered at the start of the day in the classroom. We recommend reviewing the menu with your child beforehand. The kitchen currently provides Halal chicken.

You may send your child in with a packed lunch if preferred. Please ensure that lunch boxes are named and there are no items containing nuts or nut oils.

We can cater for special dietary requirements – applications should be made to Aspens on the Allergy and Intolerance Form.

Please click here to view our latest menu and .Allergy and Intolerance Form.

Breakfast and After School Club

Our Breakfast and After School clubs are both run by Get Active and are  located onsite in our School Hall.

For further information, or to book a place, please click here.

Extra Curricular Clubs

We offer a range of clubs after school run by external providers.

Reception children are welcome to join in with the after school clubs from the spring term onwards.

School Uniform

Information on our school uniform can be found here.

All of our new uniform is supplied by Michael Hope. New uniform can only be purchased online by clicking here.

We also have a selection of 2nd hand uniform available to purchase in school. We can only accept cash payment for 2nd hand uniform at this time.

Milk

All children under the age of 5 are offered free milk and a healthy snack each morning. We are only able to provide cow’s milk. If your child has any allergies that we should be aware of, please make sure you detail this in the online admissions form. If your child would like to continue to have milk after they turn 5, you can order it for a small fee online at https://www.coolmilk.com/. We will then be informed by Cool Milk which children have ordered milk

Pupil Premium Funding

In the last few years, nurseries, schools, childminders and other childcare providers have been able to claim additional funding for children in their setting through the Pupil Premium Grant (PPG). The Pupil Premium Grant is also often referred to as Free School Meals. As all meals in our school are free, we encourage parents to let us know if their child is eligible.

The PP funding provides our Nursery and school with additional funding for children whose parent/s may be in receipt of one of the following:

  • Universal Credit, provided they have an annual net earned income not exceeding £7,400 (£616.67 per month)
  • Income Support
  • Income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance
  • Income-related Employment and Support Allowance
  • Support under Part 6 of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999
  • The guarantee element of Pension Credit
  • Child Tax Credit, provided they are not also entitled to Working Tax Credit and have an annual gross income of no more than £16,190, as assessed by HMRC
  • Working Tax Credit run-on – paid for 4 weeks after you stop qualifying for Working Tax Credit

The additional funding provides a real boost to the children and enables them to make better progress. For example, it can be used to provide extra English or Maths intervention programmes or additional support for your child, whatever their ability or need. It could also include free access to an activity club run before or after school for children from the second term of F2 onwards. Your child’s Activity Fund can also be paid for from this funding.

If you are unsure whether you are eligible, then it may be worth making the application anyway or calling into the school for confidential advice.

Applications are processed through Bracknell Forest Council. To make an application, please click here to complete the online form. The result of the application will be sent directly to the school. We will then notify you of the outcome. The school office can provide you with a paper copy of the application if you are unable to complete the form online.

Additionally, if either parent is currently a member of the armed forces, there is additional funding the school may claim to help support your child. If either parent is currently serving in the armed forces, please let the school office or their class teacher know.
