In the last few years, nurseries, schools, childminders and other childcare providers have been able to claim additional funding for children in their setting through the Pupil Premium Grant (PPG). The Pupil Premium Grant is also often referred to as Free School Meals. As all meals in our school are free, we encourage parents to let us know if their child is eligible.
The PP funding provides our Nursery and school with additional funding for children whose parent/s may be in receipt of one of the following:
- Universal Credit, provided they have an annual net earned income not exceeding £7,400 (£616.67 per month)
- Income Support
- Income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance
- Income-related Employment and Support Allowance
- Support under Part 6 of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999
- The guarantee element of Pension Credit
- Child Tax Credit, provided they are not also entitled to Working Tax Credit and have an annual gross income of no more than £16,190, as assessed by HMRC
- Working Tax Credit run-on – paid for 4 weeks after you stop qualifying for Working Tax Credit
The additional funding provides a real boost to the children and enables them to make better progress. For example, it can be used to provide extra English or Maths intervention programmes or additional support for your child, whatever their ability or need. It could also include free access to an activity club run before or after school for children from the second term of F2 onwards. Your child’s Activity Fund can also be paid for from this funding.
If you are unsure whether you are eligible, then it may be worth making the application anyway or calling into the school for confidential advice.
Applications are processed through Bracknell Forest Council. To make an application, please click here to complete the online form. The result of the application will be sent directly to the school. We will then notify you of the outcome. The school office can provide you with a paper copy of the application if you are unable to complete the form online.
Additionally, if either parent is currently a member of the armed forces, there is additional funding the school may claim to help support your child. If either parent is currently serving in the armed forces, please let the school office or their class teacher know.
